The Internet is quietly being replumbed. That shouldn't surprise anyone involved with it; the Internet is always being replumbed. But you might be more surprised to learn that the next few years will bring an unusual burst of changes in that plumbing, some with great potential consequences for anyone who relies on the Net. By "plumbing," I of course refer to the protocols and software that make the core features of the Internet work. These have been evolving steadily since 1969, but I don't think any period since the early 1980s has seen as many changes as we'll see over the next few years. 2012 Future of Cloud Computing Survey Exposes Hottest Trends in Cloud

North Bridge Venture Partners has announced the results of its second annual Future of Cloud Computing Survey. Supported by 39 industry collaborators spanning established leaders, emerging, fast-growth companies, and startups – the 2012 survey captures current industry perceptions, sentiments and emerging trends in cloud computing. This year’s collaborators include companies such as Amazon Web Services, Rackspace, Eucalyptus, and Glasshouse. Cloud Computing Delivering on its Promise

Mimecast, a supplier of cloud-based email security, continuity, policy control and archiving, on Thursday announced the results of the second annual Mimecast Cloud Adoption Survey, an annual research report examining attitudes to cloud computing services amongst IT decision-makers in UK and US businesses. The survey, conducted by independent research firm, Loudhouse, reveals that a majority of organisations (51 percent) are now using some form of cloud computing service, and the levels of satisfaction amongst those companies is high across the board. Conversely, companies not yet using cloud services cite concerns around cost and security. Mimecast Ranked Third Fastest Growing Technology Company in the UK

Mimecast on Monday announced that it ranked Number Three in the 2010 Deloitte Technology Fast 50, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the UK. Rankings are based on average percentage revenue growth over five years. Mimecast grew 7579% percent during this period. Mimecast's CEO, Peter Bauer, credits the company's 7579% revenue growth over the past five years to the its ability to provide email archiving, continuity, security, discovery and policy management through a single platform and the potential of delivering those services quickly and affordably through a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.
